WHITE DORPER STUD

WHITE DORPER STUD
WHITE DORPER STUD Stud No. WD164

The Eastern White Dorper stud flock was formed with Gossamer Down stud grade ewes in 2004. Other bloodlines have since been infused including Kaya, African and Ida Vale. One of our top sires (African 4195) was Australian reserve champion ram at Dubbo in 2005 and this heavy muscular shedding sire has put his ‘stamp’ clearly on the stud animals coming through.

Eastern White Dorpers was the first White Dorper stud established in the Southern Tablelands to supply quality full-blood rams and ewes for large and small farms on the Tablelands, South West Slopes and Highlands.

The flock is Dermatosparaxis negative. All lambs are vaccinated with Gudair (for Johne’s Disease) and 6-in-1 vaccine. We conduct regular monitoring (worm tests) for internal parasites, and carry out targeted drenching based on test results. There are strict farm biosecurity practices in place to protect the property from the entry and spread of pests and diseases, and a sheep health certificate is provided with all sheep sold

Good shedding ability has been a challenge in the cool Southern Tablelands environment but with genetic selection for improved shedding, the ewe flock currently comprises around 70% full shedders. We believe that it is actually advantageous for the ewes to maintain a covering along the backline for summer sun protection and winter warmth in the Southern Tablelands.

We are committed to producing superior genetics for tablelands prime lamb production and therefore, we work closely with internationally renowned inspectors and judges to ensure we continue to produce high-quality White Dorper sheep.

All our White Dorper rams (sires) live together with their Dorper and cross-bred ‘cousins’ year-round except for the joining period of five weeks when they are used selectively across the ewes to achieve the highest improvement and genetic gain in the progeny. They also share their paddock, and are often found grazing together with our two Miniature Galloways. Our rams are used to being moved by people, by horse and by ATV. We also run them through our sheep yards regularly to ensure they remain quiet and calm when being handled.

Our White Dorper ewes (dams) have excellent temperament and shedding ability, high fertility and are assessed by qualified inspectors according to the international Dorper Breed Standards of Excellence. They have the requisite hardiness to perform well in the harsher conditions of the Southern Tablelands.

Please call or email us if you are interested in buying quality full-blood White Dorpers. We cater for studs, commercial enterprises and small farms alike, and are committed to working with you to meet your needs and help you improve the quality of your sheep.
